The Coven Academy cast at a glance

The Coven Academy cast centers on six young actors and two adult figures at a secret magic school in New Orleans. Malina Pauli Weissman plays Briar, a guarded New Yorker who discovers that she is a witch. Malachi Barton is Jake, a charismatic warlock drawn toward dangerous magic. Jordan Leftwich plays Sasha, Ora Duplass is Tegan, Louis Thresher is Ollie, and Tiffani Thiessen plays the school’s formidable head, Miss Graves. Devon Sawa appears as Mr. Cole, a warlock professor. For readers who like a role-by-role reference rather than a broad show summary, the format is similar to our Best Medicine cast guide with actors and characters and our A Different World cast character guide.

Who plays the central students?

Weissman’s Briar is the entry point into Coven Academy. Disney describes her as independent and sarcastic, with a difficult past and newly discovered powers. Her story also involves the mystery surrounding her mother. Barton’s Jake is one of the students most closely tied to Briar. He is presented as a magnetic warlock whose interest in dark magic adds tension to the school’s friendships and romances. That mix of character detail and casting recognition is why searches such as Dont Say Good Luck cast and character roles often rise alongside a new show’s release.

Leftwich, Duplass, and Thresher complete the core young ensemble. Sasha can read emotions and influence thoughts, while Tegan is a time-bending witch whose ADHD is part of both her character and her powers. Ollie is a reluctant new vampire whose feelings for Briar place him inside the show’s central relationship drama. Which adult actors and recurring players appear?

Tiffani Thiessen brings the best-known television résumé among the main Coven Academy cast. As Miss Graves, she plays a former student who now leads the academy and carries secrets of her own. Devon Sawa appears as Mr. Cole, a capable warlock professor who pushes students to treat their powers seriously. Both characters give the student stories an adult counterweight without displacing Briar’s point of view.

The recurring cast includes Swayam Bhatia as McKenna, Brendon Tremblay as Alexander, Keegan Connor Tracy as Tamora, BJ Harrison as Agnes, and Nathaniel Logan McIntyre as Teese. Disney identifies McKenna as Jake’s stepsister and a major personality at the school. Public character details for the other recurring roles remain limited, so viewers should be wary of fan pages that present speculation as confirmed plot information. That restraint also helps when comparing a new ensemble with pages such as The Audacity cast guide or His, Hers and Ours cast details.

What is Coven Academy about?

Coven Academy is a supernatural teen drama created by Tim Federle. The story takes place in New Orleans, where young witches and warlocks attend an elite magic boarding school while an older threat closes in on the city. Briar, Tegan, and Sasha form the central coven, while Jake and Ollie complicate the personal stakes. Disney’s official material frames the series around mystery, romance, magic, and the pressure of controlling dangerous power.

The premise will sound familiar to people who enjoy stories about witches, but it has its own characters and setting. A useful companion comparison is our Practical Magic 2 reviews and story updates, which covers another witch-themed screen property. The fictional magic in Coven Academy is entertainment, not a guide to real practice. Readers exploring that separate commercial category can independently assess a Spellsology spell-casting guide for beginner ritual ideas or a Mystery School Code course for exploring esoteric traditions.

Where can you watch the cast in Coven Academy?

In the United States, Coven Academy premiered on Freeform on October 1, 2026. The full first season became available the following day on Disney+, Hulu, and Freeform On Demand. Streaming availability can differ by country, so the local Disney+ or Hulu listing remains the safest place to confirm access. toughestblogger recommends checking the service page before starting, especially if you are outside the United States.

For a Halloween-season watch night, the show’s New Orleans setting lends itself to moody decorations and a candlelit screen setup. Our Halloween background ideas for a watch party can help set the scene without confusing the series with a real occult school. Start with Briar’s arrival, keep an eye on the relationships among the six main characters, and use the recurring cast list as new faces enter the story.
