LeanBiome: The 3,600 Twins Who Explain Your Belly Fat

The volunteers in the trial LeanBiome leans on lost belly fat for twelve weeks straight. Then they stopped, came back one month later, and the scientists found something the sales page prints in plain sight and almost nobody quotes.

Two people, one kitchen, two different bodies

Picture the study that started all of this. At King's College London, researchers looked at 3,600 sets of twins where one twin was lean and the other was overweight. Same genes, same childhood kitchen, same family recipes, two completely different bodies. The usual suspects, willpower and discipline and the second helping of pasta, cannot explain a gap that wide between two people who grew up on the same dinner plates.

What separated them, according to the LeanBiome sales page, was the gut. The lean twins carried a rich and diverse microbiome full of species the page calls lean bacteria, described as suppressing hunger, dampening cravings, firing up the metabolism and reducing fat storage. The overweight twins carried a thinner population dominated by a few species the page calls fat bacteria, described as doing the exact opposite: ramping up hunger, fueling cravings, freezing the metabolism and increasing fat storage.

That is the entire idea in one sentence you could repeat a month from now. You may not be fighting your willpower, you may be fighting a population. And a population can be changed, which is exactly what the formula on the official LeanBiome page is built to attempt.

What the vendor actually put in the bottle

LeanBiome comes from Lean for Good and is presented by a woman called Meghan on the sales page. The formula combines nine clinically researched lean bacteria species with Greenselect Phytosome, a next generation green tea extract that is caffeine free and uses a patented absorption technology called Phytosome. That last word matters more than it looks. The vendor's whole argument is that ordinary green tea barely gets absorbed, so the delivery method is the point.

Caffeine free also means this sits at the opposite end of the shelf from a coffee based formula like Java Burn 2.0, and the bacteria angle is the same logic that drives an oral probiotic such as ProDentim, only pointed at the gut instead of the mouth.

The numbers the vendor puts on the table

Here is the tension. Every supplement page shows you a graph. Very few name the journal. This one does, so you can at least see what is being claimed and by whom.

Lactobacillus Gasseri: a twelve week trial published in the British Journal of Nutrition, 210 overweight volunteers, milk with the bacteria against plain milk. The sales page reports an average 8.5 percent loss of belly fat in the bacteria group, plus reduced body weight, BMI, waist size and visceral fat, while the control group showed no change at all. Lactobacillus Rhamnosus: University of Laval in Canada, also in the British Journal of Nutrition, twelve weeks, an average 9.7 lbs of fat lost by the women taking it, twice the placebo group. Lactobacillus Fermentum: University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, published in the Journal of Functional Foods, a 3 percent drop in body fat in 43 days against 1 percent for placebo, on identical diets. Greenselect Phytosome: 50 people on 300mg a day plus a calorie controlled diet against 50 people on the diet alone, and after 90 days the sales page reports an average of 30 lbs lost against 11 lbs.

The named proof I find hardest to wave away is not a number at all. The Director of the Stanford University Microbiome Therapies Initiative is quoted calling the twin research the clearest evidence to date that gut bacteria can cause weight gain. That is a sentence with an institution attached to it, which is more than most bottles offer, and you can read the full research section on the page where Lean for Good lays it out.

The one month detail I promised you

Back to the opening. When the Gasseri volunteers stopped drinking the enriched milk and returned a month later, the fat loss had stopped too. Weight, BMI, waist size and visceral fat had started climbing again.

The sales page uses that as proof the species works. Read it the other way and it tells you what kind of purchase this is. Nothing here is a one shot fix. It is a population you feed or a population you let drift back, which is the same maintenance bargain behind a daily liver formula like Liv Pure or a blood sugar support such as Gluco6. Anyone selling you a fourteen day miracle is selling you the wrong story.

Who should walk away

If you want a stimulant that makes you feel something within twenty minutes, this is not it, and the caffeine free formulation says so upfront. If you expect results without touching what you eat, notice that the Greenselect trial put both groups on a calorie controlled diet. If you are on medication or pregnant, that is a conversation with your doctor, not with a web page.

What is left is a straightforward proposition: nine bacteria species and a patented green tea extract, aimed at the one explanation for stubborn belly fat that does not start by blaming you.

Order it from the official Lean for Good page because you have spent years treating this as a character flaw, and the twin research says the difference was living in your gut the whole time.

People also ask

What exactly is LeanBiome?

It is a daily supplement from Lean for Good that combines nine clinically researched lean bacteria species with Greenselect Phytosome, a green tea extract using patented Phytosome absorption technology. The vendor positions it as a way to rebalance the gut microbiome, which the sales page presents as the root cause of belly fat and unexplained weight gain.

Does LeanBiome contain caffeine?

No. The sales page describes Greenselect Phytosome as a next generation, caffeine free green tea extract, so the formula does not rely on a stimulant kick.

How long did the studies cited on the page run?

The Lactobacillus Gasseri and Lactobacillus Rhamnosus trials cited in the British Journal of Nutrition ran twelve weeks, the Lactobacillus Fermentum trial from the University of Manitoba ran 43 days, and the Greenselect Phytosome trial ran 90 days. These are the studies the vendor quotes about the individual ingredients, not trials of the finished product.
